Bienvenidos a Costa Rica

I'm pretty sure you all know me or you wouldn't be here... so we can forget the introductions. I just wanted to make a simple-minded little net page with my (few) simple-minded (non) computer skills so that you all have an idea of what's going on here, in the land of eternal summer while I'm not with you. Don't expect much. Just the existance of this page is trying enough with my caliber of tech knowledge!!!

Think of this as the AOL of web pages! (Then at least maybe you won't be too disappointed!)

So Where Exactly Am I?

HEREDIA, COSTA RICA!

If you care, here's a short overview of the city (and my school):

The colonial city of Heredia, with a population of 50,000, is located six miles north of San José (approximately 20 minutes by bus). Known as the "City of Flowers", this city and its surrounding areas provide all the conveniences of a medium-sized town in an environment which has escaped, to a large extent, the normal urban problems affecting the capital. The city has a surprisingly youthful and active feel despite its small size. This is due to the presence of the many young Costa Ricans attending the National University, which is located here. Many of Costa Rica's famous coffee plantations surround Heredia and one can still see ox-carts loaded with beans being pulled from the plantations.

The city which was founded in 1706 and unlike most Costa Rican towns, it has a colonial character. The Parque Central has many buildings surrounding it including the La Inmaculada Concepción which was built in 1797 and the colonial tower of of El Fortín. The Universidad Nacional is of interest and it has an excellent marine biology dept. ( Museo Zoomarino) which displays 2000 specimens of Costa Rica's marine diversity

(compliments of LaunguagesAbroad.com -- because I'm far to lazy to write my own 'overview')

And it's the size of West Virginia!

Costa Rica is home to over 850 bird species -- one tenth of all known bird species (The U.S. and Canada combined have less than half that number).
